Environmental, land use and water law regulations can greatly affect the ability of real property owners to develop new uses or protect existing uses of their property. At Tonkon Torp, LLP, we help property owners consider the significance of these regulations. We help create a variety of options so they can best determine which direction they wish to proceed relative to long and short-term objectives and matters of cost and risk.
Our firm has an extensive background handling issues related to real property development, conservation and other land use issues throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our experience involves a broad range of legal matters including:
We advise our clients on these issues and help them secure permits and approvals for the development of land. We will represent clients in front of governmental and regulatory agencies if necessary.
In addition to representing the property owner in land use issues, we also advise lenders on how to properly secure their financial interests on development projects large and small.
We recognize that lending institutions assume significant risk in real property development projects. Over time, as water rights in many parts of the Northwest begin to assume market values higher than the land involved, our ability to help lenders assess the real value of water rights, as well as water availability and protection, is a vital part of risk analysis in any development project. All too often, lending institutions are not properly secured regarding this most valuable of assets.
We also assist other traditional land use or business lawyers in the evaluation of water availability and risk issues as they look to advise their respective clients on real property projects.
Please contact us at Tonkon Torp, LLP regarding any environmental law, water law or other land use issues associated with land development. We can be reached by phone at (503) 802-5759, by e-mail, or by filling out the intake form on the Contact Us page.
